Commuters using the Hudson River crossings will soon get hit harder in the wallet.
Beginning March 2, the Port Authority will raise tolls at the Holland and Lincoln tunnels, as well as the George Washington Bridge and Outer Bridge Crossing. The price to cross state lines using those routes will cost $8, up from $6.
There are a couple of loopholes for motorists to pay less at the toll booth when crossing the Hudson.
Hybrid drivers who register their car with the Port Authority will be given a green pass, allowing them to cross for only $4. Commuters who use an E-Z Pass can catch a break by traveling during off-peak hours. Those drivers will only have to pay the old $6 fee at those low-volume times.
