An individual was found dead inside a vehicle in a Walmart parking lot on Route 37 in Toms River after trying to stay warm, according to a local nonprofit.

Just Believe Inc., a group that helps homeless and disenfranchised people in Ocean County, said the individual ran out of gas and the vehicle's battery later died. The organization says the individual was homeless and living in Toms River.

The nonprofit says police told them the vehicle would have been impounded if they were not able to assist.

Just Believe Inc. says it is helping the family by ensuring the vehicle is safely removed from the property and by providing additional support during what it described as a difficult time.

Toms River police have not confirmed any information yet.
