A Monmouth County homeless camp will be forced to close after the land was sold for $1.6 million.
Destiny’s Bridge is a nonprofit camp that provides shelter for the homeless in Howell Township.
Township officials declared the camp a temporary arrangement in 2017, but maintained the right to sell the property.
The camp’s residents say that they are now scrambling to figure out their next moves.
"The potential buyer has sat down with me. He's offered a little bit of money but it's only enough for a couple weeks in a local hotel. It's really nothing to sustain them for a while until they can find something a little more adequate,” says Minster Steve Brigham who runs the camp.
Township officials say that they will provide residents access to the social services that they are entitled to.
