A Toms River man living his life to the fullest in a wheelchair saw his dream home destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. Now, nearly 1,000 days since Superstorm Sandy, Eric Katz's wheelchair-accessible home has been rebuilt.

"I can't thank everyone enough for coming back and helping me when I needed it most," Katz says.

Katz lost the use of his legs at age 15 due to transverse myelitis. When water flooded Katz's street in Toms River, badly damaging his home, he thought the rebuilding would be next to impossible. But Katz had the will to rebuild and his reborn home is proof.

"It took many, many man hours to rebuild," he says.

Friends and family helped to gut the home, and contractors restored it to the way it was. There were even some improvements.

Katz says he wasn't able to live at home for 13 months while it was repaired. "But now I'm home," Katz says.
