A home in North Plainfield was destroyed Monday night in an explosion during severe weather and flash flooding.
It is believed the blast may have been caused by a natural gas explosion, although this has not yet been confirmed by officials.
The house on Parkview Avenue was leveled, and some neighboring homes also appear to have sustained damage.

First responders were on the scene Tuesday morning, watering down hot spots.
Parkview Avenue, like many roads and highways in New Jersey, was inundated with floodwater during the storm.
Across town on Sweetbriar Lane, residents living on the cul-de-sac were evacuated after fire officials grew concerned that some of the foundations were not secure once the floodwater receded.
“We have seven houses on the block. Three with foundation issues that we know of so far…but they did smell gas and that’s why they evacuated us,” says resident Nikki Williams.
At last check, the evacuated residents were staying at the town community center as inspections continued.
