Hoboken has introduced a new law aimed at reducing waste by banning restaurants from automatically including utensils and condiments with takeout orders.
As of today, restaurants will only provide utensils and condiments upon request.
The city council hopes this 'Skip the Stuff' measure will minimize unnecessary waste.
Restaurants will initially receive warnings, followed by fines of up to $500 for non-compliance.
