The Highlands Borough Council has unanimously passed an ordinance to purchase land from the Diocese of Trenton to build their new, permanent headquarters.
Borough business has been conducted out of trailers ever since Superstorm Sandy destroyed their old borough hall and surrounding neighborhood in 2012.
The new headquarters will be built across from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, outside of the flood zone.
Two buildings housing the church's food pantry and thrift shop would be torn down and relocated across the street to make room for the new borough hall.
Some neighbors say that they are concerned about parking in the area once the new borough hall is build.
The headquarters will house municipal offices, police and fire emergency crews.
