There is a HEAT ADVISORY in effect for New Jersey through Wednesday 8 p.m. for high heat and humidity creating feel-like temperatures that will reach near 100 or more. It is dangerous heat and humidity.
FORECAST:
High heat and humidity leads the weather story for today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. We observed 25 days of 90+ degree weather since the first one on June 5. This is the normal number of 90+ degree days observed at Newark for any given year. Therefore, we can say that this summer will be warmer than normal once we hit 90 again today.
Sunshine is strong for the next few and the humidity will be very high. The haze in the sky comes from the distant wildfires that waft smoke into the upper atmosphere, and although there are limited impacts to air quality today, there will be some air quality concerns for Tuesday.
Wednesday remains hot and sunny with highs in the 90s again.
There will be heat-busting thunderstorms perhaps very late Wednesday or on Thursday that reduce temperatures. Too soon to gauge whether or not these storms will be severe.
Fall-like weather arrives Friday with highs in the upper-70s. It's fresh and beautiful. The weekend weather is warm - in the 80s, with mostly sunny conditions.
