The Morris County Tourism Bureau held its seventh annual Fourth of July reading of the Declaration of Independence on the green in Morristown.
Organizers say Revolutionary Times is what the Fourth of July is all about. The event on the green, where George Washington spent a good amount of time, included musical performances, speeches by local and state officials, a musket salute and people dressed in historical clothing.
"The Fourth of July is about so much more than hot dogs and fireworks - and I think for a long time those activities overshadowed the real importance of his day,” said Leslie Bensley, of the Morris County Tourism Bureau.
