The Hamilton Township mayor is calling for donations for those affected by a multi-alarm fire that broke out Monday.
Mayor Kelly Yaede is asking people to donate clothing, toiletries, blankets, pillows and gift cards for the 44 people who were displaced by the East State Street Fire.
Donations can be brought to the Bromley Neighborhood Civic Center located 1801 East State St. in town. Residents with questions regarding donations can call the center at 609-587-8100 or send an email to info@cyobromley.org.
The fire started at 1744 E. State St. just before 5 p.m. Monday. It quickly spread to the row of homes and damaged at least 20 of them.
Eighteen of the 44 residents displaced will be out of their homes long term due to the damage. Six of the homes suffered collapsed roofs or unstable walls.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials believe it started in the roof.
Township and fire officials will assist residents in safely removing their belongings that can be salvaged from the fire.
