Hamilton man charged with shooting man, dog in hunting incident

A Hamilton man was charged following a hunting incident in Kingwood Township, Hunterdon County on Monday, according to the NJDEP.

NJDEP Fish & Wildlife Conservation Police charged Michael Griffis, 47, of Mercer County, with the negligent use of a firearm and causing damage of property after he allegedly struck another person and their dog with birdshot pellets, officials said.

Authorities said Gerald Quarino, 70, of Columbus, Burlington County, suffered nonfatal injuries to the leg. The condition of the dog was not immediately available.

Charges were filed with Kingwood Municipal Court, according to the NJDEP.
