Newark Harvest Fest

The United Community Corporation is hosting a Harvest Fest event Friday in Newark for those looking for some Friday family fun. The fest is set to feature a trunk-or-treat and costume giveaway for the kids along with providing attendees with fresh produce distribution and wash trailer for residents to clean their clothes free of charge. The festivities begin at 3 p.m.

Picatinny pumpkin slinging competition

Picatinny will host the sixth pumpkin slinging competition for northern New Jersey schools. Around 100 students from eight different high schools will gather at Lake Picatinny Friday to see who has designed the catapult that launches pumpkins the farthest. The students will be joined with Picatinny scientists and engineers - some of whom designed canons used by armed forces that will also be on display.

Kearny’s Halloween parade

Kearny will host a Halloween parade Sunday for families and dog lovers alike. The parade is set to feature a doggie costume contest and dog-themed fun. There's also an adoption fair to show off shelters across Bergen County.
