Another New Jersey politician, along with his wife, were in court to plead not guilty to corruption charges.
Guttenberg Mayor David Delle Donna and his wife surrendered to the FBI Friday. They each have their own attorney and face charges stemming from alleged illegal campaign contributions. The two-term mayor and his wife are accused of misuse of campaign contributions and bribery.
Federal prosecutors say the charges date back to 2001 when Delle Donna was a Guttenberg city councilman and his wife was on the planning board. At the time, his wife also served as his campaign manager for mayor.
According to court papers, the mayor received gifts from a bar owner, a real estate developer and a Guttenberg fire official.
The two each posted $100,000 bail. If convicted, the husband and wife could each face up to 20 years in prison and more than a $250,000 fine.Related Information:Click to view full complaint against Delle Donna and his wife
