The sale of guns and ammunition continues to rise, along with the number of New Jerseyans testing positive for the coronavirus.

 

The negative news and fear surrounding COVID-19, drive-through testing centers, the closing of malls and stores, and now hair and nail salons, comes at an increase in people applying to purchase weapons.

According to the New Jersey National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which is used by licensed New Jersey Firearm Dealers, there were 1,100 submissions for legal gun purchases for the end of Wednesday evening, which is much more than usual.
