The popular grocery chain Lidl has announced a voluntary recall of popular shortbread cookies due to undeclared allergens.

A recall alert on the Lidl US website states that all 11.6 ounce boxes of the Eridanous Shortbread Cookies with Chocolate Truffle Coating & Apricot Filling are being recalled "due to undeclared wheat, soy, milk and egg allergens."

According to the company, the products were distributed between July 25 and July 22 of this year in multiple states including New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.

"People who have an allergy or sensitivity to wheat, soy, milk, or eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products," the recall alert says.

So far, no illnesses have been reported as a result of consuming the cookies.

The recalled boxes have the UPC code 4056489125839. Customers who purchased the cookies should either discard them or return them to the nearest Lidl store for a refund. A receipt is not required if the cookies were part of the recalled batch.
