Grand jury declines to indict officers involved in fatal East Orange crash

New information has come out in a police chase in Essex County that ended in a deadly crash.

A grand jury has decided not to charge the officer involved in the July 2024 crash in East Orange.

Dashboard camera video shows Bloomfield police chasing Omar Williams, who was suspected of a robbery.

The chase began in Newark, went through Bloomfield and ended in East Orange when Williams struck a parked ambulance. He died from injuries he sustained in the crash.

A grand jury decided that the officers involved should not face criminal charges related to Williams’s death.
