Gov. Phil Murphy signed an executive order Sunday making people with past convictions eligible to serve on juries in New Jersey.

The signing took place at New Hope Baptist Church in East Orange.

Previously, anyone with a conviction was barred from jury service for life.

The new order removes that restriction.
