Gov. Chris Christie generated a wave of carping critics over the weekend for hanging out at Island Beach State Park during a government shutdown that kept New Jersey residents off of similar state beaches and out of state parks.
And he's not apologizing.
The pictures of Christie and his family on beach chairs sparked a global reaction and spawned memes featuring his likeness in the beach chair digitally placed into countless other settings.
For his part, Christie says it's not a scandal. He says he was exactly where he'd said he'd be: relaxing with his family.
