Gov. Chris Christie says he intends to remain as New Jersey's governor but that he would consider a post in the Trump administration if one is offered.
Christie discussed his status during an interview on WPG talk radio Tuesday.
Speaking from the Republican Governors Association conference in Florida, Christie said he has "every intention" of staying on until his term ends in 2018.
Christie chaired President-elect Donald Trump's transition team until he was made vice chairman last week. Christie says he told Trump that if he's asked to serve he would consider a position in the administration.
Christie was among Trump's earliest backers, lending vocal support after Trump's New Hampshire primary victory.
Trump's victory comes after the conviction of two of Christie's former allies in the Bridge-Gate lane-closing trial.
