A New Jersey woman has renewed faith in humanity after some good Samaritans returned her lost wallet that contained hundreds of dollars.
Aja Spooner says that she got distracted Wednesday morning and left her wallet on the Light Rail in Jersey City. Inside the wallet was $400, which Spooner was going to use to pay back a friend who had helped her pay some bills.
“We're struggling, you know, so with the grace of God and my mom's help, as well as my friend, we get by month to month,” she says.
She says that she rushed back to the train when she realized what she had done, but she did not find her wallet. Another passenger said that she had seen two or three young men pick up the wallet and say that they were going to turn it in.
Spooner says that she was about to give up hope of getting her money and wallet back. But while she was still out a relative received a knock at the door of Spooner's home.
“At 11:06 the young men came back…and returned my wallet,” she says. “With everything in it. Everything. Money and all. Can you imagine?”
She says that the men did not want anything in return. But Spooner says that she needs to do something to reward their actions.
“If you see this, please come back so I can give you a big hug and find something to give you,” she says.
Spooner says that she will be keeping a closer watch on her belongings from now on.
