Good news for commuters! NJ Transit riders will not see price increase for 5th straight year
New Jersey Transit riders will not see a price increase for the fifth straight year.
Officials expect operating budgets will keep the agency running for the next four years, but come the fiscal year of 2026, it will face a hole of $550 million after the last of the $216 million in federal COVID-19 aid is spent.
The agency expects ridership to bounce back to 90% of pre-pandemic levels by fiscal year 2025, with about 10% still working remotely.
Fare revenue is anticipated to reach $945 million by fiscal year 2026.
