General Motors has asked Gov. Jon Corzine to put the brakes on legislation that would give New Jersey the country's strongest Lemon Law.
State lawmakers voted to up Lemon Law coverage to two years or 24,000 miles. In a letter obtained by News 12 New Jersey, a law firm representing GM requests Corzine veto the law. The letter calls the new regulations "a significant blow" to "an already beleaguered auto industry."
Consumer advocates worry the behind-the-scenes lobbying could undo six years of work on the law.
