Clifton police are crediting an 11-year-old girl with helping them catch a predator.
Authorities say Albert Perez, 30, approached the girl as she waited for the bus last week. After the man allegedly tried to lure her into his car, the girl called her mother.
The girl then text messaged her mother the suspect's license plate number, which was reported to police. She then identified Perez out of a lineup after he was picked up by police.
Perez has been charged with stalking and harassment. Authorities praise the girl's bravado in a hard situation.
"For an 11-year-old girl to be that alert, especially in a situation when she's under stress, she was tremendous," says Sgt. Robert Bracken.
