A 45-year-old Hawthorne man has been charged with sexually assaulting a juvenile on more than one occasion in Mahwah, Bergen County prosecutors said Friday.
Officials said the investigation began Wednesday after the Mahwah Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile.
The investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and Mahwah police found that Jason M. Herskovitz allegedly sexually assaulted the juvenile on multiple occasions.
Herskovitz was arrested Thursday in Wyckoff and charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
The Hawthorne Police Department also charged Herskovitz with failure to provide notice and re-register as a sex offender.
Herskovitz was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first court appearance.
