Giants get first win, possible star heading into Sunday’s matchup with Washington
The New York Giants got their first win last Sunday, and maybe a star as well.

Quarterback Daniel Jones earned the NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The rookie quarterback had a sensational performance in his first NFL regular season start, capping a fourth quarter comeback with a game-winning seven-yard scamper to the end.

“Everyone when they get into the game is going to feel different and get into it, so I think I'm consistent with that, I think like anyone I'm competitive and try to do what I can to do win, so I try to be consistent,” says Jones.

Jones completed 23 of 36 passes for 336 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for two touchdowns and led the Giants in rushing with 28 yards.

“While we won, there's a number of things to work on and that I need to clean up certainly, so we'll focus on that also, but it's always easier to do that when you win,” says Jones.

Jones also did the bulk of the work without star running back Saquon Barkley. He exited the game with an ankle injury in the second quarter.

“As you know, Saquon is going to be out for an extended period here,” says Coach Pat Shurmur. “He's getting a second opinion on his ankle and that's the reality in this league. It's not cliché, it's not coach speak, but it really is next man up; you don't cancel the games because one of your guys isn't there.”

Jones will try to earn his second win of the season to get the Giants to 2-2 this Sunday as the team hosts the division rival Washington Redskins. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
