Funeral services will be held this weekend for a 10-year-old boy who died after being shot during a high school football playoff game in Atlantic County.
Micah Tennant’s family says the service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Atlantic City.
The boy was shot in the neck when gunfire erupted in the stands during a Nov. 15 game between Pleasantville and Camden. He died five days later, just hours before the remaining minutes of the game were played at the Philadelphia Eagles’ stadium. A 15-year-old boy was also grazed in the incident.
Tennant’s killing outraged the community. More than 100 people, including local religious and community leaders, marched on Nov. 23 from a small park over the Atlantic City Expressway to the Pleasantville High School field to call for an end to gun violence.
Six men have been charged in the shooting, including a 27-year-old man who was also shot in the incident. Authorities have said he was targeted by the shooter.
Alvin Wyatt, the suspected gunman, faces numerous charges including murder, two counts of attempted murder and weapons offenses.
