A fundraiser was held Monday afternoon in Asbury Park to raise money for hurricane victims in Key West, Florida.
Hundreds filled McCloone’s Supper Club in Asbury Park to take part in "Playing for Key West.”
Kelly Ryan, who owns restaurants in Red Bank and Key West organized the all-day concert to raise money for those who work in tourism-related industries.
“To keep people in their homes so they can go back to work. That’s what Key West needs right now, is to reopen,” she says.
The Florida Keys were badly damaged by Hurricane Irma. While Key West is now open for business, many other towns in the Keys are still struggling to rebuild.  More than a dozen well-known New Jersey musicians, who play in Key West often, donated their time to play at the event.
The event’s attendees paid $20 to get in. Organizers say that they hoped to raise $20,000.
The money raised will go toward an organization called the Sister Season Fund, which pays rent and utility bills for those in tourism-related industries when they suffer setbacks, like hurricanes.
More information about Sister Season Fund can be found HERE.
