Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick has gotten a new facility therapy dog.
Maui is a Golden Retriever that will work full time at the hospital. She will work with her handler to provide therapy across many departments in the hospital.
Maui’s handler Katie Ahlers says that having a dog in a hospital can help reduce stress and anxiety among patients and their families.
Data shows that interacting with dogs like Maui can have a positive effect on blood pressure and comfort.
