A Newark man accused of killing his fiancée and her dog before going on the run for five years has been returned to New Jersey to face charges.
Officials say that Lamont Stephenson killed Olga DeJesus and the dog inside their Newark apartment in 2014 and then fled. He was placed on the FBI 10 Most Wanted List in October.
Stephenson was arrested in Maryland Thursday after police found him sleeping inside a truck. Police say that Stephenson has been living in the Washington D.C. area “as a homeless man” for the past several years.
Stephenson is also accused of killing a woman and her cat in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
DeJesus’s family says that she can finally rest in peace now that her alleged killer has been caught.
