The old Nabisco plant in Fair Lawn is seeking tenants for new warehouse space. Listed among the selling points is some data-center-friendly language.

Three years ago, the Fair Lawn planning board approved the site for warehouse development, under property owners Greek Real Estate Partners. Formally, that is still the stated plan. There has been no application for a data center, according to the owners and the mayor of Fair Lawn.

Still, the property - billed “Gateway North 208” - listed a “highlight” as “data center by right” with “240 MW of power.” It would be a stark change from the old building, which dated back to 1958 and had a very noticeable benefit.

“Chocolate chip cookies all around," said Anna, of Fair Lawn. "That’s all you smelled. I used to come from Oakland working, and just driving down, you’d open the window and all you smelled is just cookies in the air. It was so good.”

The idea of a data center gave a split reaction - with one resident mentioning new jobs and another emphasizing the cost to residents and noise concerns.

Greek Real Estate Partners told News 12 they are seeking a tenant for their original plan. When asked about the data center language in the listing, they responded “no comment.”

Fair Lawn Mayor Cristina Cutrone told News 12 that the approved plan authorizes only a warehouse, and that the borough has “no interest in making Fair Lawn a destination for data centers.”

The old Nabisco site - demolished in 2024 - is near the border with Glen Rock and zoned “restricted industrial.” There is a school and several housing units nearby.
