A New Jersey man accused of murder is back behind bars after an error in the system released him from jail on $200 bail.
The Regional Fugitive Task Force caught up with 19-year-old Dontay Brannon on Friday in Pennsylvania. More than three weeks earlier, Brannon walked out of jail even though he faced two murder and one attempted murder charges.
Family members of one of the men Brannon is charged with killing were at the new bail hearing Thursday. His new bail was set at $2 million. However, family members wanted Brannon held without bail, saying there should be no way for him to get out again.
?He already killed two people,? Clinton Barlow, the uncle of a murder victim, said. ?He could have went out there and killed somebody else.?
The family members are now demanding answers from the county about how Brannon was released.
Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes said the county has already made changes, including double checking all records for new charges before anyone is released. Hughes added the county doesn?t yet know what went wrong with Brannon?s case, but he won?t let it happen again.
Brannon could face more charges, including breaking parole for leaving the state.
