The 911 calls from frantic neighbors after the fatal small-plane crash in Wayne were released Wednesday.
Residents called police after the crash Monday night on Nellis Drive. Police say the plane hit some trees, crashed on the street and burst into flames in a driveway. No one on the ground was injured and the plane did not hit the house.
The pilot, Andrew Coppolo, of Atlantic Highlands, was killed in the crash. Police say Coppolo was on his way from North Carolina to the Essex County Airport. The National Transportation Safety Board says it will be months before it determines the cause of the crash.
