New Jersey residents who wish to own a piece of the state’s history may get the chance when Fort Monmouth holds an auction later this month.
Fort Monmouth borders Eatontown, Shrewsbury and Oceanport. The base was decommissioned in 2011. There are now plans to turn the former military site into commercial and residential real estate.
Items up for bid include such things as old signs, a telescope, gas mask and furniture.
In addition to the auction, a number of items are being offered for sale outright and nothing is priced over $25.
The auction is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. until noon.
More information about the auction can be found HERE.
