Former Newark police lieutenant sentenced for murder of estranged wife

A former lieutenant of the Newark Police Department has been sentenced to 79 years in prison for the murder of his estranged wife.
John Formisano, of Jefferson Township, was convicted in the murder of Christie Formisano, 37, and the attempted murder of another man who was in her home at the time.
The shooting occurred in July of 2019. The couple's two young children were reportedly home at the time, but neither were injured.
Formisano will not be eligible for parole for at least 65 years.
