An investigation by the Jersey City Police Department has led to the arrest of a former employee of Goya Foods.

Jersey City Police said they arrested 54-year-old Jennifer Kutler after a meticulous, month-long financial investigation that uncovered more than $274,000 in stolen company funds.

In August 2025 Goya Foods contacted Jersey City Police regarding a suspicious payroll activity linked to a former employee.

Detectives immediately launched an investigation, including a review of payroll records, financial documentation and bank transactions. The investigation revealed a pattern of fraudulent activity spanning from 2023 through 2025, resulting in a total loss of $274,231.90

Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said “This arrest reflects the exceptional work of our detectives, whose persistence, attention to detail, and commitment to following the evidence led to accountability in a complex financial crime”

Jennifer Kutler has been charged with theft by deception, computer criminal activity, impersonation and misapplication of entrusted property.
