A forest fire that consumed hundreds of acres of land in southern New Jersey has been about 75% contained, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
The 617-acre wildfire in areas of Bass River State Forest was spotted Sunday around 4 p.m.
Dozens of firefighters were called to help fight the fire. Crews set smaller, controlled fires in some areas to help stop it from spreading. A New Jersey Forest Fire Service helicopter was used throughout the day to aid suppression efforts.
Officials say that the fire no longer poses a threat to any nearby structure and all roads in the areas have been reopened.
No injuries were reported.
Some smoke is expected to still be visible in the areas for the next several days as the fire smolders.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
