Forecast: Periods of rain today with cooler temps and breezy conditions
Sunday in the Garden State is off to a gloomy start, with steady rainfall and cooler temperatures.
News 12 meteorologists say the day will see periods of rainfall through the afternoon. Areas could see 1-2 inches of rainfall, with higher amounts possible locally.
High temps today are topping out only in the low-70s. Winds will be N at 5-15 mph.

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for the evening high tide for central and southern New Jersey. It says up to 1 foot of inundation above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
Dangerous rip currents could also form along the shore today, so anyone braving the rainy weather to go to the beach should be aware.
Overnight, expect mostly cloudy conditions with a few lingering showers and lows in the mid-60s.
Then on Monday, it will be partly sunny with highs around 81 degrees and a chance for isolated showers or storms. But Tuesday and Wednesday look better, with mostly sunny skies.
