The pandemic is still creating tremendous need for food distribution centers across New Jersey, especially during the holiday season.
The numbers coming into Fulfill in Monmouth and Ocean counties are staggering, according to the food bank.
Fulfill's president says so far, they're seeing an increase of 40-50% of use over last year. She says because the Shore region is built on hospitality, the number of people out of work continues to climb.
"We've served out of this facility 2.8 million more meals than at the same time last year," says Kim Guadagno "We are working really hard to keep up with that number, we've got food coming in and out of here, it's delivered and it goes right back out."
Guadagno says the cost of a truckload of canned vegetables has tripled over one year ago. She's urging anyone who can help out their local food banks to make a monetary donation.
