As the third anniversary of Superstorm Sandy approaches, residents in Manasquan say they feel much better prepared to handle any potential flooding.
Many homes in the low-lying areas of Manasquan have been raised: a requirement from flood insurance companies. The area has been known to flood, even without a hurricane.
Wednesday's heavy rains brought some coastal flooding to the area, but residents say they aren't worried.
"We feel better. We don't worry," says Nancy Tischio, who was affected by the storm.
Resident Ellen Langdon only recently was able to move back into her home after Sandy. She too says she doesn't worry as much as she used to.
"I would panic when I heard that a nor'easter or a full moon [would be coming, because of the flooding]," she says. "I feel a little better. I really do."
The National Weather Service did issue coastal flood advisories for Wednesday due to the rain.
