Police say a driver is on the run after hitting a Toyota minivan on Fulton Street in Cypress Hills, sending the car and its five occupants into a nearby Chase Bank building.

Police say the driver ran a stop sign and struck the van at the intersection of Fulton Street and Hemlock Street.

Witnesses say the crash could be heard from blocks away, as others say the driver of what appeared to be a BMW SUV was swerving wildly in the street leading up to the crash.

Police say three children who were passengers in the rear of the van were taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center with minor injuries.

Sources on the scene tell News 12 the driver was a 23-year-old male, who appeared to be intoxicated before he fled the scene, adding that this was not their first drunk driving incident.

The Chase branch has been closed indefinitely, with a partial vacate order issued by Department of Buildings.

News 12 reached out to DOB for information regard the damage to the structure, and is waiting to hear back.
