To atone for comments made by a former employee, the Five Guys burger restaurant in Howell raised funds on Wednesday for the local PBA.
All sales made between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday were to be donated to the Howell PBA. The PBA will donate that money to the NJ State PBA Survivor and Welfare Fund, which supports families of fallen officers.
Last week, a Five Guys employee called three police officers who had entered the establishment "piggies." The 17-year-old employee was fired, but the comments went viral after other customers who witnessed the interaction posted about it on social media.
The owner of the Five Guys franchise has apologized for the employee. The PBA president and Howell police have accepted the apology and called this an isolated incident.
