Cornhole is a game usually played at football tailgates or backyard barbecues, but one league in New Jersey is taking it a step further this weekend to crown the best in the state.
Mike Van Houten and Kevin White started New Jersey Cornhole in 2013. Now, they're co-hosting the first-ever state championship.
More than 100 competitors will have the opportunity to represent New Jersey in a nationally televised tournament next month.
"We signed up with USA Cornhole and we're co-hosting it with them to do a state championship where the top five male and top five female go down to Red Hill, North Carolina to play in the national championship," Van Houten says, who is also the Cornhole League director.
The New Jersey Cornhole State Championship will be on Saturday at Highline Arena in Aberdeen. The bags fly at 10 a.m.
