New Jersey’s first Dave and Buster’s officially opened in Woodbridge Tuesday.
The amusement and dining venue is finally able to operate in the Garden State thanks to a change in law.
It was previously illegal for large arcade venues to sell liquor. That law was repealed two years ago, and Dave and Busters looked to expand to New Jersey.
The new venue is located at the Woodbridge Center mall. It features 150 arcade games and will add 250 jobs to the local economy.
"We've seen a lot of traffic coming from New Jersey to both Philadelphia and the New York area so we knew it was a place that we belonged,” says Dave and Buster’s spokesman Bruce Crane.
New customers were excited to check out what the location had to offer.
“I have gone to Dave and Busters before,” says Roselle Park resident Ursula Williams. “I’m excited for New Jersey. That we no longer have to go into [New York City.]”
Although the venue is located inside the mall, it also has its own outdoor entrance and hours independent of the mall.
A second Dave and Buster’s location is expected to open next year at the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne.
