A fire in a Montclair home that drove a family to the roof of the house proved to be a tough rescue situation for firefighters Sunday.
A mother and her 14-year-old son, two tenants of the house, stood on the second-story rooftop when firefighters arrived. Rescuers took out their ladder and brought them down safely. The chief said it was a tricky rescue and one of his men was injured.
A woman living in another apartment was taken to the hospital after inhaling a lot of smoke. She is expected to be OK.
Investigators say they will try to determine the cause of the fire. The owner of the house says he will fix and restore the home.
