A fire that broke out near a hot tub quickly spread to the adjacent home early Sunday morning in Pennington.

Pennington firefighters were initially called to Shara Lane around 3 a.m. for reports of a hot tub on fire on a deck behind a home. When they arrived, they found a working fire that prompted a call for additional units, according to Hopewell Township Fire Department, who responded to assist.

Arriving crews found that the fire had extended to the home, requiring additional fire companies from Ewing and Lawrence townships to respond as well. Firefighters faced an additional challenge due to water supply issues.

"Due to the lack of nearby hydrants, a second alarm tanker assignment was requested to establish a water supply," Hopewell Fire Department said in a social media post.

After two hours, crews managed to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported. Officials have not yet said what caused the fire.
