Twelve fire departments from across New Jersey gathered for a cook-off as part of the Cooked and Uncorked Food and Wine Festival held at Pines Manor in Edison.
The firefighters weren't dishing out the usual chili or barbecue. The contestants stepped up their game and served up fine food. Roselle Fire Department got top honors, for cooking up shrimp and scallop napoleon with avocado, sour cream and pepper with a cocktail shrimp on top.
There was a three-way tie for second place between Cranford, Belville and Hamilton.
The event was also a fundraiser. Proceeds went to St. Barnabus Burn Foundation, the only burn center in New Jersey.
