Fire damages upper floors of home in Bloomfield

A fire damaged the upper floors of a home in Bloomfield on Monday evening.

The fire was reported around 6:21 p.m. at 34 Berkeley Place. , according to Bloomfield Fire Chief Louis Venezia.

Officials said the damage was limited to the second and third floors of the home.

“Units arrived, they went to work, they did searches, stretch hose lines, to knock the fire down as quickly as possible, and are doing extensive overhaul now,” Venezia said. "No serious injuries were reported, though one resident was being treated for smoke inhalation."

No word yet on the cause of the fire. Officials have not said how many people may have been displaced.
