Fire crews extinguish blaze at single-family home in Wayne
A fire broke out at a single-family home in Wayne and shut down parts of Hamburg Turnpike.
Officials say the fire was started from about 20 cords of wood that the homeowner had piled up for the winter.
Fire officials say there were no hydrants in the area so they had to pump water up the hill where the house stands.
The initial call to the fire department came in as a brush fire. The township’s website had announced that Hamburg Turnpike was closed between Colfax and Black Oak Ridge roads.
The owner of the home tells News 12 that no one was hurt.
