A fire claimed a West New York home Saturday, but thankfully wasn?t able to claim any of its residents. Roddy Vargas, 17, was awoken by the sound and smell of fire around 5:45 a.m. He says he looked out the window on 57th Street and saw that his neighbor?s two-family house was on fire and immediately called to wake them. While the fire investigation continues, initial reports speculate that it started in the driveway and worked its way up the house. The flames spread on the outside, so people inside didn't realize the house was on fire. None of the nine residents in the house were injured. Firefighters say the house, which was called home for 10 years by its tenants, will have to be demolished.
