Firefighters battled a five-story apartment building fire in Fort Lee Saturday with the heat and wind hindering the process.'
Olga Vresca, who lives on the ground level with her mother, says she thankfully made it out safely and had time to get her things.
She says she's not even sure if she'll have an apartment to come back to since the fire started levels above hers.
Sherryann Nagzan, who works at a restaurant in Queens, wasn't lucky enough to get her things or the beloved pet bird she owned for five years. She heard about the fire while she was at work.
Due to the structure fire on Hudson Terrace, electric service has been temporarily suspended by PSE&G while fire response efforts continue overnight. Areas in the northern borough are affected.
The outage is expected to continue for approximately eight hours.
